The provision creates offences relating to gambling licences and registration numbers where a person, with the intention to deceive or defraud, (a) alters a gambling licence or the registration number referrable to a gambling licence, (b) makes a document which falsely purports to be a gambling licence or the registration number referrable to a gambling licence, (c) transfers, copies or distributes a gambling licence, the registration number referrable to a gambling licence, a gambling licence or registration number which has been altered, or a document which falsely purports to be a gambling licence or the registration number referrable to a gambling licence, or (d) displays, produces or otherwise uses any such licence, registration number, altered item or false document.

It is also an offence for a person, otherwise than a licensee, to hold himself or herself out or represent himself or herself as being a licensee, and for a person other than an authorised officer to hold himself or herself out or represent himself or herself as an authorised officer. Penalties are on summary conviction a class A fine or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months, or both; on conviction on indictment a fine or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years, or both.
