Subject to subsections (2) and (3), a Business to Consumer gambling licence remains in force for one year from the date of issue unless sooner surrendered, revoked or otherwise ceasing to be in force, or for any longer period the Authority may prescribe under subsection (4). A once‑off lottery licence remains in force for the period specified by the Authority. A betting licence that authorises pool betting remains in force, in so far as it relates to pool betting, until completion of the event, series or class of events authorised.

A gambling licence for a charitable or philanthropic purpose remains in force for one year from issue unless sooner surrendered, revoked or otherwise ceasing to be in force, subject to subsections (6) and (7). A once‑off charitable gaming or lottery licence expires on the earlier of one year from issue or two months after completion of the once‑off activity; charitable pool betting remains until completion of the relevant events. The Authority may prescribe longer or different periods for such licences under subsections (8) and (4). A Business to Business licence shall remain in force for the period prescribed by the Authority under subsection (10).
