The Directive shall come into force 20 days post-publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. Key provisions, including several articles concerning UCITS and investor information, will apply from 1 July 2011.

Member States are mandated to replace existing simplified prospectuses under Directive 85/611/EEC with key investor information as stipulated in Article 78. This transition must occur within 12 months following the implementation deadline of the necessary national measures, during which competent authorities will continue to accept the prior simplified prospectus for existing UCITS in their jurisdiction.
